Andrew Ng: AI Can Turn Everyday Workers into 10X Pros, If We Build Trust
Andrew Ng sees a big divide. Tech folks in Silicon Valley cheer AI. But outside those bubbles, workers worry it will wipe out jobs. Ng raised this in an interview at the Masters of Scale Summit, as CapitalAI Daily reports.
He puts it plain: “We’re in Silicon Valley, where most of us love AI… I think many of us may underestimate the distrust that a lot of people across the nation have for AI.”
Why Everyday Workers Fear AI
Politicians fuel the panic. They tell contact center staff or fast food workers that AI means their jobs vanish. Ng says excitement over productivity gains fades when your own role feels at risk.
“When a product contact center worker is scared of losing their job, or a fast food worker. Here’s a politician saying, ‘yep, guess what, these AI people, they’re going to make your job go away.’ That creates a lot of fear and distrust of AI.”
Ng’s Fix: Tools and Training for All
Ng pushes for AI that lifts everyone. Make tools easy to grab, teach people to use them. That creates “10X” workers everywhere—not just coders.

“AI can make individuals much more effective… but to get the tools available to everyone, teach everyone to use it, that’s upskilling,” he says. The catch? The industry hasn’t earned that trust yet.
