Aria: Opera’s Browser AI Assistant

Opera launched Aria as an AI feature built into its browsers. A beta version description on APKMirror calls it a tool that adapts to your browsing habits for a smoother experience on Android.
Replacement by Opera AI
Opera recently partnered with Google to bring in Gemini models across its browsers, dubbing the result Opera AI. This setup replaces Aria entirely, as Thurrott.com and AlternativeTo report. Opera’s Per Wetterdal said the browser makes a good starting point for AI since it handles real-time context from tabs and pages.
Users of Opera One, Opera GX, and Opera Neon now get Opera AI in a side panel. It pulls from open tabs and page content to answer questions, summarize info, or compare tabs. Voice input and output work too, and it’s faster thanks to tech from the Neon browser.
Key Features
The Irish Times points out Opera AI—formerly Aria—runs free in Opera One with no account required. It handles questions, image generation and analysis, and on-screen content queries. Opera One also connects to outside models like Meta’s Llama, Google’s Gemma, and ChatGPT.
- Chat about current pages or tabs
- Generate and interpret images
- Switch between multiple AI providers
- Voice interaction
This fits into wider browser changes, where AI tools compete by acting on tasks directly, though security worries like prompt injection persist.
